King Charles III has begun his nine-day tour of the Caribbean, acknowledging the "great suffering of the past". The King spoke at an event in the Bahamas celebrating local youth, where he noted the country's culture was "born out of darkness".

He confirmed that leaders will discuss the region's legacy of slavery at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. The tour comes amid renewed calls for Britain to apologize for its role in the slave trade.

A small group of protesters called on the King to help change the UK government's position on apologizing and offering reparations.
